Malefi is a Family Therapist, specializing in Romantic Partner Relationships, Family Communication, Grief, Depression and Anxiety.
“Maléfi,” as he is affectionately known, currently provides innovative and unconventional clinical services to individuals, couples, and families (e.g., hip-hop talk circles). In addition to his clinical work, Maléfi is a certified Empowerment Coach, having been trained in Amman, Jordan through the Empowerment Institute. He founded vrban_alchemy for the express purpose of effecting lasting and positive change in the lives and systems of his clients with compassion, competence, and cultural humility.
Maléfi has also served as an adjunct psychology professor at DePaul University, facilitated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops for corporate leaders, and has guest lectured at Roosevelt University.
Maléfi completed his undergraduate education at DePaul University in psychology and his graduate education at Adler University in Counseling Psychology. Additionally, he’s completed advanced doctoral graduate studies in Couple and Family Therapy at Adler University.
Maléfi is a devoted father to three amazing sons. Additionally, as an IFÁ practitioner and leader, he offers spiritual advice to clients around the world.
Lastly, Maléfi is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, one of the oldest historically predominantly African American fraternities in the world.
